European Traveler

New bag, new challenges. This will be a fun little project. I'm making it for my cousin who is relocating to Europe with her family. She needs a bag that will work during all of their traveling with their young children.

Her requests:
- Big, and Durable for Airplane and Train Rides.
- Possibly expandable...,so it's not huge all the time!
- Outside compartments (2) for water bottles.
- Inside hidden compartment for passports, ect!
- Outside zip pocket for nuks, keys, ect.
- Convert from over the shoulder to back pack to keep hands free.
- Zippered top in main compartment.
- Big enough for food, toys, books, diapers, and extra clothes on the airplane.

My solution:
- The base color of the bag will be Black (Black bottom, black straps, black accents)
- I have an estimated size on the picture below
- I'm not sure how I can make the bag expandable with all the exterior pockets
- 2 outside pockets for water bottles/sippy cups
- Large inside zip pocket
- Several pockets inside with elastic to hold items in place as seen here
- Large exterior (hidden) zip pocket on back side of bag
- Outside pockets protected by bag flap
- Zippered main compartment with flap cover
- Flap will have a secure velcro closure
- Easy conversion from over shoulder to backpack (see picture below)

As I mentioned, the base of the bag will be black. The rest of the bag will be material strips sewn together as shown in picture below. (Some raw edges, some not.) Color for the body of the bag has not yet been determined. I will look for some cute and stylish black patterned material for the side pockets, side panels, etc. Once the right material is found, I will pair it with other colors. This will not be a black, on grey, on white bag. The flap of the bag will have the 'pieced' patchwork material. The front panel pockets will as well. The back will most likely be the patterned material I find.
